Halal Nail Polishes Part 2...

On my last post about the Inglot Breathable nail polishes,  I received a comment from a very nice reader Zainab who informed me of the Tuesday In Love brand who also manufacture 'halal' nail polishes.

However now that a lot of sisters are finding about Inglot and their so called 'breathable/ or Halal' nail polish, there have also been a lot more tests into this product from sisters who have taken it upon themselves to truly test whether the claims made by Inglot are credible or not.

Here are a few videos taken from Youtube showing sisters making comparisons between this new Tuesday in Love Brand and the Inglot brand nail polishes. You will find that the results show that water does not go through the Inglot nail polishes, however the Tuesday in Love brand stayed true to their claims and their polishes are water permeable. You can see for yourself that Inglot have truly misinformed the Muslim women who wish to wear nail polish without invalidating their wudu.

I would advise sisters to really look at all the evidence provided and to do the experiments for themselves if they wish but there has been a lot of false advertising on Inglots behalf. In'sha'Allah I will be ordering the Tuesday In Love brand nail polishes and testing them out, they are also cheaper then Inglot, however their shipping costs to the UK are very high £10 plus as they are a Canadian brand.

Lush Review!

Here I am with another product review. I have been using some of these products for nearly over a year now, so I feel like I have used them enough to know both the long term and short term effects of them.

Tea Tree Water: 100g £3.95
This is probably one of the nicest feeling products and it's also very simple and quick to use, there isn't a specific way of using toners but the general way is to use it after you remove your makeup after cleansing/exfoliating your skin and before you moisturise. Toners are used to remove any last residue that may still be on your skin and it refreshes and helps tighten pores temporarily. The main thing that I noticed with this product was that it helped my skin to become less oily in the t-zone area, which is something that I have problems with, but I think that after using this product for such a long time my skin has now become immune to it and I don't notice as many benefits to it as when I first started using it. This product is very mild and does not irritate the skin at all. Overall I use this product to refreshen my skin and for the antiseptic, antibacterial and antimicrobial effects that tea tree naturally has.

Enchanted Eye Cream: 45g £11.50
I've never used an eye cream before so this was my first time using one and I wasn't impressed at all, the only reason I purchased one was because I was having allergies and the area around my eyes was becoming really sensitive. When putting anything around the eye area you have to be extremely careful with what products you use and knowing that Lush is 100% organic that is the only reason as to why I chose this particular eye cream.
The consistency of the cream is very light and it soaks into the skin straight away, I don't really have much to say because I didn't notice any difference when using this cream, it just didn't do anything for me.

Enzymion: 45g £13.50
This is probably my all time favourite moisturiser, I use it everyday, twice a day, in the morning before I apply my make up and in the night after I cleanse my skin. This is the moisturiser for oily skin so it is not very thick and not oily at all, it soaks into the skin and the ingredients in it help to combat shine and keep the skin matte throughout the day if you use it before you apply your makeup. If you have dry patches then using this product will not help you at all and you will something a little more stronger then this, on days when I do feel like I need more moisture in my skin I mix this with my Argan oil.

Cosmetic Warrior: 75g £5.95
I have never really been a fan of face masks, but this product has made me see sense! I didn't actaully like this product at first but the more you use it the more it benefits your skin. This particular mask is especially made for people with acne skin and the main ingredient is garlic, which works as an antiseptic, it also contains, tea tree and honey. I will definitly be repurchasing this product because every time I use it my skin feels softer and smoother, and it also lasts a long time as a little amount goes a long way.

Makeup Wipes!

I have been wanting to do this post for the longest time! That is because I do not use makeup wipes!! They are probably the worst thing that you can use on your skin, no matter how fragrance free and sensitive they are, they don't benefit your skin in anyway!... How do I know this? Well I can safely say that I have tried every single makeup remover wipes possible from the cheapest one to the more expensive ones and every single one of them burn the area around my eyes or they irritate my skin one way or another, and also I have read up a lot about them just to make sure I haven't missed some amazing wipes that work wonders on my skin.

So how do I remove my make up? First of all I always use waterproof mascara, and the best way and the only way that I can remove it is... Vaseline. All I do is literally just smear it on my eyes and leave it for a little bit so that the oils can break down the make up and then I take a cotton pad and it comes off extremely easily, without irritating my eyes!
For the rest of my face I just use a cleanser, a lot of people think that its okay if certain products burn or feel a little bit uncomfortable they just think that it mean that the product is working, well this is rarely the case. Products shouldn't burn or feel uncomfortable unless your getting something like a micro dermabrasion which is mainly done by professionals.

I'm not saying that makeup wipes don't remove make up, they do and some more then others, however you shouldn't solely really on these alone, as long as you are using other products to cleanse/clean/exfoliate your skin after using makeup wipes, it shouldn't be a problem. Everybody has different skin and it reacts to things differently, but you have to know that using makeup wipes alone will only cause more breakouts in the long run as it doesn't remove 100% of makeup and can cause build up and you should follow up with a different product such as a cleaner after using your wipes.

IPhone Case!

Hey I just wanted to do a quick post, as I have been getting asked a lot of questions about my IPhone case and it was out of stock for a while but its back now so get it while you can.

Maxi Dress Season!

Untitled #9

Even though it may not be evident now... it is maxi dress season! The sun is hiding from us but in the mean time the stores are stocking up on maxi dresses and maxi skirts because they look great and are probably the best items of clothing to wear not only as a muslima but also in general when trying to keep cool (in the hot weather when it comes... in'sha'Allah; God Willing).

Above are all maxi dresses that are in stores right now, so go get them while you can. I think that you should have at least four different types of maxi dresses in your wardrobe.

1. The Striped Maxi (Above; £35 now on sale for £24.50 at House Of Fraser) : This looks best in a jersey style material, the nautical look will always be in fashion and it is very spring/summer. As with all maxi dresses you can dress it up or down but with simple stripes and a simple jersey material it will be easy to pair with pretty much anything.

2. The Bright Maxi (Above; £68 Oasis): In my opinion bright maxis always look best in a pleated or chiffon material but mainly pleated because chiffon works better for patterned maxis which I will speak about next.

3. The Printed Maxi (Above; Tropical print maxi £20 and Black and white print maxi also from H&M): I feel that the printed maxi looks best in a more flowy chiffon material however the tropical maxi above is a jersey material, both of these materials can hold a strong print and look great both day and night.

4. The Neutral/Basic Maxi ( Above; Khaki maxi £50 Zara) Having a basic solid coloured maxi will always come in handy, I have about seven of them but sometimes bright colours and bold prints are too much and on days like those you just want to keep it simple.

I hope this helps, this is just my guide to how I pick and choose maxi dresses because sometimes there is just too many to choose from and finding one that doesn't seem like it's swallowing you up can be hard, as sometimes there is just too much fabric. But having said that I think anybody can wear a maxi dress, you just have to find one that fits your body type.

Boots Botanics Range!

So as I am on this whole 'herbal/organic' cleanse with my skincare, I thought I would review this range.
The whole reason as too why I wanted to purchase it was because I have given up using any product which contains any harsh chemicals and just focusing on natural organic skincare, however these are all topical treatments and I firmly believe that if you truly want to achieve great skin and generally feel great inside and out... you have to start inside. This includes, regular exercise, eating right and of course drinking lots of water!

The first product is a Botanics Rosewater toning spritz. The ingredients: Aqua (water), Alcohol denat*, Glycerin*, Rosa damascena flower oil, Citronellol. It states that it is 100% organic.

I have never used a toning spray before, so it just felt weird and purposeless at first however it feels so refreshing spraying this on your face and it does make your skin feel smooth. I use this after cleansing and before applying my moisturiser (which is the Argan oil and I swear by this product it is amazing)
This product alone does not do much for the skin, as it is very mild, however now that the summer is approaching using this spray to freshen up is amazing and as if contains glycerine it is great for people with dry skin, to add that bit of moisture back into your face.

I also purchased the Botanics ultra calm cleansing cream and I was very disappointed with this product. It claims to remove make up and impurities without drying or upsetting delicate skin, and yes it does not dry or upset your skin, but it does not remove make up at all. As this is a cleaner I don't think it did a very good job, it also is very mild and it is very oily. You apply this product on your face and then wipe  off with a cotton pad and it leaves your face very oily and greasy which is not what you want unless you rub the excess into the skin as a moisturiser but I wouldn't recommend that as it is not designed to be one and may cause you to break out.

These products are available from Boots, the Rosewater spritz is £4.99 and the cleanser is £4.49, and the cleanser is also not 100% organic. These products are extremely affordable in comparison to other more natural/organic skin care, I would repurchase the Rosewater spritz again purely because it is very refreshing, but I did not enjoy the cleanser at all and I will be on the look out for a better cleanser.
